The Meaning of the Lunar Phases

In order to understand the different phases of the lunation cycle we should realise that the period around the New Moon is very subjective in nature, whereas the period around the Full Moon is very objective in nature.

As the Sun and Moon conjunct at the New Moon, it can be said that the Soul and Mind come together deeply to commune. Then as the Sun and Moon oppose each other at the Full Moon, it can be said that the Mind and Brain approximate, and the Brain seek to be receptive to be able to fully understand and articulate what the Mind in its turn received from the Soul at the New Moon. Thus the subjective impressions at the New Moon are becoming objectified at the Full Moon and then implemented and worked out practically during the waning cycle of the Moon. The seed sown at the New Moon comes to fruition at the Full Moon. The understanding of the lunation cycle in terms of the interaction between the Soul, Mind and Brain is very practical and worthwhile of consideration.

It has been said that "the Moon is the Mind, and the Sun is the Understanding". Thus as the Moon becomes fully lit, the Mind is able to endow the Brain with the understanding of what was communicated at the New Moon. The seedthought has fully impressed the brain, and the brain can now begin to formulate the impressions. These formulations will then serve as instructions for action taken during the remainder of the waning cycle.

Astrology of the New Moons and Full Moons

The aspiring disciple should make note of the synastry formed between the New Moon and Full Moon charts and his own charts. Especially important is the degree where a New Moon Falls or the axis where the Full Moon falls. If these degrees happen to make synastry to your own charts (including the progressed chart), they may well precipitate events or counteract events held as potential in your charts.

Also check the rulers and angles for your natal or relocated coordinates. These too are of import, and so is of course any stellium found in the chart. It is also suggested that the closest applying aspect will set the tone of the particular lunar cycle in general, and the closest applying aspect in synastry will do so for you personally.
