Introduction
Aspects
are based upon number. This article will use the 'zodiacal theory'
for explaining the nature and resolution of aspects. This theory is
based upon the resonance found between number and the signs of the
zodiac. Some of the lesser aspects are not mentioned here, for example
the bi-septile, which instead is included with the Septile aspect.
The same goes for the other lesser semi-, bi-, tri- and quad-aspects--they
are included with the more fundamental aspects with which they are
related.
The numbers associated with the different aspects correspond to the
sequence of Constellations. The Sun annualy passes through certain
constellations in sequence, and these constellations can all be referred
to the sequence of numbers, as given in the following table:

divided by a certain number results in an angle. The Aspects are angles
and are therefore based upon number as follows:

These
numbers then correspond with the sequence of Constellations. This
system I believe is the most useful model, helping to explain what
the different aspects are about. Thus we correlate them numerologically
with the signs and the sign-polarities. To make it more clear here
is a table on this concept:

follows an approach to the aspects based upon the above theory and
correlations:
1)
Conjunction --- Aries / Libra; Mars, Mercury
Asserting initiative of a new cycle of activity. The stage of thesis.
What you will effectively begin. New initiatives you will have to
undertake. Where you have the power to originate. Where you show great
independence. The areas of leadership. The way in which you lead.
The areas your pioneering spirit will head for. Where one may come
forth and from the plane of mind rule. Where you may have the power
to enliven and make new. What is on the rise. Where there may be an
unavoidable confrontation or willful expression. An immediate expression
of the related energies. A new level of relation between the energies,
as a new idea has to be contacted and brought forth or birthed. Seeing
the plan for the interaction of the involved energies. Where there
may be an aggressive and combative approach. An impulsive exploration
of the energies involved. Relating the opposing forces into coordinated
interaction after recognition of purpose and place in the plan. It
is a power aspect of dynamic energies. What we identify with. A point
of uniqueness. Ones outlook on life. Areas for the use or disuse of
the crown chakra. Our approach to life. A centre for our self-awareness.
An influence on how we look. A prominent feature of our persona. Exoterically,
under Mars, the conjunction can be a very impatient aspect, where
the energies exert themselves in an untimely manner. Here the involved
energies may also create lots of frictional fire due to the inherent
assimilaritiies. Even so a common ideal can be found under Mars, and
then it adds its driving power to the conjunction, making it an aspect
relating to new initiatives and endeavours. Esoterically, Mercury
will carry with it the plan in an intelligent manner, and thereby
becomes a vehicle for creativity as it serves to relate the opposing
forces of the inherent assimilarities, so that they may eventually
fuse into an harmonious whole.

Opposition --- Taurus / Scorpio; Venus, Vulcan
Stability leading to illumination, freeing from desire and attachment.
What you will acquire. What of value you are missing and how you will
go about getting it. Where the eye has to be opened. The stage of
anti-thesis. Where thine eye has to become single. True resources
one has to become aware of. Awareness and recognition of inner resources.
How you will increase the amount of illumination in your life. Where
illumination of the mind may come. Stubborn persistence of energies.
Where there is the need for alignment. The faculties that has to be
brought into alignment. Where you see the red blanket. That which
brings you anger. The areas and the way in which you release you anger.
The nature of your driving forces of aspiration. How you will raise
the quality of your desires. Where there is the need to raise the
quality of your desires. The energies you must make use of for constructive
purposes. Areas where you may have a strong sense of value or taste.
Areas where love must enter. Where there is to be found the desire
to materialize. What may become the backbone of your achievements.
The stability you may rely upon. The areas or energies where you are
stubbornly stuck and cannot move. Where one must be freed from desire
and attachments. What one can depend upon. Where one has to be productive
and see practical results. The personal resources which help us obtain
possessions and money. Your material and objective goals of accumulation.
The nature and basis of your self-worth, self-esteem and self-reliance.
A great gain and asset, or a great loss or deficiency. Extracted contents
of the causal body. Your pranic energies. Areas for the use or disuse
of the throat chakra. Where one need to control the form or outcome
of the energies. Our materialistic and possessive drives. Where your
values may lift society. The hidden talents we must bring forth and
make use of. Our laziness defined. That which must be brought under
control. Where you eventually will be a custodian of the Light of
Knowledge. Exoterically, the searchlight of Venus will make you aware
and lighten that of value which lies ahead, and then magnetically
draw and attract that which one must acquire and encompass in ones
ring of possessions. Even so, the Bull at this stage may be rushing
blindly, and colliding head on, as it is often at cross-purposes with
higher pursuits. It is stubbornly determined to seek out physical
pleasures and emotional sensations, because its sense of lasting and
immaterial values has not yet been developed. Slowly then the purpose
of material possessions begins to dawn on its mind of reorienting
aspirations, and its desires are directed towards something higher
or towards material possessions but for a higher purpose. The material
desires are slowly brought under control and transmuted into spiritual
will by the power of Vulcan, the esoteric ruler, as it powerfully
wields the material, yet stands free and unattached. It removes the
excess and forges, shapes, molds and hammers the acquired and solid
or tightly compressed material, into forms that will beautifully express
the purposes of the soul. It is clear that spirit 'desires' to align
and become inclusive of matter, and works to create a clear channel
to the very root of matter, in order to express its divinity.

Trine --- Gemini / Sagittarius; Mercury, Venus
Promotion of communicative and versatile interplay. Easy transfer
of energies. Where there is found a productive and brotherly exchange.
Where right relation is found. A relationship where there has been
great learning. Where there is to be found a fluid interplay. Where
the bridge has been built. Where you are the messenger. What you will
have to communicate. Where there may be found an unstable and changeable
relation. Where there may be found diffusiveness and a difficulty
to clearly define and protect yourself. Where your boarders are invaded.
Where you are aware of duality. Where you may shuttle between the
poles. Where you will have to relate the opposites. Where you may
be excelling in mental agility. Where there is found a possibility
of versatile and expansive interplay. The stage of fusion into Synthesis.
Areas of great inquisitiveness. The way that you think. Driving influences
on the mind. Mental interests and inclinations. Where there may be
a lack of continuity. Where superficiality and shallowness may be
found. What is taken for granted. Where restlessness and inconsistency
is found. Reception of messages from inner planes. Communicative interplay
between ones soul and personal. What one is consciously aware of.
Where one seeks to fuse the energies. An uncomplicated and natural
interplay. The way in which you communicate and the mediums of communication.
The nature of your nearest environment. The knowledge you seek, and
the way you go about it. Your early education. Areas of teaching.
Short and frequent journeys. Where you find a chain of proof. Exoterically,
through Mercury here is found a constant and uninterrupted flux of
energies, as everything has to change, mutate and adjust in order
for the developing soul to properly enrich itself and inquisitively
gain the knowledge needed, so that the proper and higher perspective
eventually can emerge, and out of that the possibility to more closely
bring the poles or energies together. Mercury creates the anchoring
threads for the bridge, which all the basic dualities are become connected
and related through, as Mercury furiously shuttles between the poles.
Venus, the esoteric ruler, magnetically attracts, balances and harmonizes
all these movements and brings in beauty and grace. It serves to blend,
fuse and harmonize the poles, here being an instrument for developing
synthesis, but with a clear and accurate understanding of the uniqueness
of the related energies. At this stage the soul and essence of the
energies imbue and pervade the whole relation, and only the best is
extracted and given.

Square --- Cancer / Capricorn; Moon, Neptune
Protective preparation, providing and illumination of a manifested
form. What you will guard and protect. Where your sheltering care
is needed. The incarnated idea for which you can become a guardian
of the form. Where you have to protect yourself or your work. Where
the shell of protection is needed. The way in which you protect. Where
there is the need for a first cohesive anchoring of the indwelling
principle in a physical body or form for a particular cycle of unfoldment.
The way in which you deal with fear, over-sensitivity and worry. Areas
of fear, over-sensitivity and worry. Where you find and seek emotional
security. Emotional responses based upon experiences. The behaviour
we regress to when we feel hurt or threatened. The dungeon of unconscious
problems and psychological tensions built up from all past experiences
and relationships. The self-image which is the result of the way we
have learnt to feel about ourselves because of the way people react
to us. Where you live and the nature of your house. The anchoring
and foundations of life. The basis of ones operations. Where you must
build a lighted house, and what will light it. The doorway into life
one must enter to know death. Experiences of the past. The way in
which you care and nurture. The way in which we express our own mothering
nature. The way in which we were cared for and nurtured by our Mother
and others. What we feel a need to gather to feel secure. Ones parents.
Our pedigree and history. Ones reincarnational past. The nature of
the permanent atoms. Where one may feel as one with humanity and the
whole. The building blocks one needs for integration and stabilization
of foundations. Ashramic affiliations. The way in which you establish
yourself in spiritual work. Exoterically, The Moon as the Mother of
Forms connect with the Lunar Lords to ensure the development of a
suitable vehicle to gain experience and express through. It guards
and shelters the mass consciousness from being even more bewildered
and sees to it that the form fails to register or step down many of
the impacts and impression to which the true man is sensitive. Thus
it creates a protected and circumscribed area, space or womb in which
the blind unit can develop from its embryonic stage and safely begin
to be aware of its surrounding whole. Esoterically, under Neptune,
the soul informs the vehicle, as God breathed into man's nostrils
the breath of life and man became a living soul. The triune nature
of Neptune symbolizes how the triplicity is blended together and comes
into outer manifestation, thus completing the esoteric quaternary.
It is also here that the first major fusion takes place, although
inchoate and unrealised and it is also here that the synthesis of
the final relation and its linking or essential unity takes place
first of in Cancer due to the facilitating work of Neptune. Thus animation
takes place and the second principle is anchored in conjunction with
the third principle.

Quintile --- Leo / Aquarius; Sun, Neptune
A powerful, integrated and true expression. How you will more fully
demonstrate who you are so that you can be an example. Where one may
excel. What you may be a superior expression of. Where the lion must
emerge from it's lair. Who you really are. The note you sound. I am
That, That am I. Your deepest identity. Factors emerging from latent
manifestation. Where you are true to yourself. The nicknames you are
given as reflections of what you express. What you show forth. Soul
gifts and display of soul powers. Soul is fleshed out. Where you must
become the Lion of self-assertion. Your heartstrings. Your heart's
joy. Where you may be 'obsessed' by the fires that carry forward.
Where you experience Solar Fire. The fountain of your possibilities.
Insights into the world of meaning. Where one will exert a powerful
influence. The quality you will embody and show forth for people.
Ones prominent ray qualities. Other prominent features, distinctions
or significant signatures. Where there is an innate spiritual or outer
material sensitivity and you are intensely and consciously aware.
Where you develop sensitive response to surrounding impacts, while
standing at the centre. Where you may be very individualistic. Where
you play a central role. Where you are the authority. Where and how
you may be a self-sufficient unit aware of oneness, aloneness, and
with an isolated attitude. Where you may be the dramatic centre or
key figure. Where there may be an awareness of purpose, self-directed
life efforts and a developed and definite plan and programme. Ones
soul-purposeful endeavours. The way you are aware of the Christ and
the indwelling reality. By what and where your consciousness may be
conditioned but not events, except in so far as your consciousness
assumes control and govern. Where you have the power to rule, and
how you rule. Where you may fuse, blend, amalgamate and produce unity.
What or where one should radiate and express with clarity. Where the
will to illumine naturally drives you on to experiment and the gaining
of knowledge. Your fields of creativity. Your love and romance. Your
amusements, hobbies and sports. Your children and other creative offspring.
Where you are too dominating and egocentric. Ones personal interests
and enthusiasms. Daring involvement in speculations, gambling and
risk-taking. Exoterically, the Sun as the physical Sun, is the ruler
of Leo. It indicates the achieved individuality of self-centered awareness.
It has found its own little center, and now stands fixed as the rector
at the center, governing the system from there. It brooks no companion
as it is a self-sufficient unit intensely aware only of its own separate
entity, and through an isolated attitude, becoming aware of aloneness.
At this stage it only interacts and uses its sensitive response for
its own outer material splendour, domineering and ruling all other
spheres and lives coming within its radius. It is only later on, that
sensitivity to the innate spiritual realms are being developed, as
esoterically Neptune begins to rule, being veiled by the Sun and representing
the Heart of the Sun. Through Neptune the man is drawn to the soul,
there finding his new and truer center, thus becoming soul-centered.
He becomes more purposeful, and idealistically one-pointed and devoted
to a higher objective. As a result he is becoming animated with Solar
Fire, from the Heart of the Sun, becoming now a five-pointed star
and a realised member of the fifth kingdom of souls. Here also Uranus
comes in to rulership, also being veiled by the Sun and representing
the central spiritual Sun. Its occult, magical and organizing capacities,
directs manifestation according to the ideas from the Mind of God.
Then will the Call of Divinity be heard, and there will be found the
consecration of individuality and the production of scientific at-one-ment
as it tries to be that which it then knows itself to be --- the Word,
or spirit, soul and body in conjunction --- radiating that in all
directions at all times.
6)
Sextile --- Virgo / Pisces; Mercury, Moon
Refinement, discrimination and purification. Day to day services and
jobs. Manual labour. The jobs one takes. The state of purification.
Occult hygiene. Where one must analyze and discard the unnecessary.
What will you perfect, correct or improve. The labours and adjustments
one must make to make the Christ child wax and grow stronger within.
Where we must nurture the inner light and nature. Where you must relinquish
your own self-will and become the humble servant to a higher will.
Where one must attend to the details and keep good order and cleanliness.
What comes very natural. Ingrained habits and rituals of behavior.
The kinds of perfection one seeks. Where one must attend to ones lunar
vehicles. The problems that causes you to investigate your routines,
food and nourishment. Health or other signs showing when one needs
to rest the body. Health or other signs showing when one need to rethink
ones lifestyle. Health or other signs showing when one need to change
an attitude. Health or other signs of old age and natural disintegration
and daily wear and tear. Where one must, or naturally can perfect
through practical application. Natural born talents and dexterity.
Where we have the opportunity or need to heal ourselves or others.
Training and shaping up the instruments. Our employees and servants.
Working with refining and regulating the matter aspect. Our associations
with the animal, plant or mineral kingdoms. Where we must nurture
the inner light and nature. Guardian of the Light of Wisdom. Mercury,
as the exoteric ruler brings knowledge of the form nature and the
many ways of expression. Slowly the mind is developed through its
activity, and man is initiate into the great illusion. The glorious
robe of God is examined in its many folds by the inquisitiveness of
Mercury, and it aligns with the four-petalled root chakra, and so
anchors the Son of Mind deeply into matter, only to begin raising
matter as the Christ-child is being born. Mercury redeems the concrete
mind developed in the first solar system, as it is associated with
Virgo, and in itself bring it together with the higher abstract and
intuitive mind of our present system. Thus it is the bridge, and as
the messenger, it powerfully relates the third aspect with the wisdom
and pure reason of the second or Christ aspect. So in performing his
mission, Mercury leads humanity into the light and the Christ-child
out of the womb of time and of the flesh into the light of day and
into manifestation. Esoterically, the Moon rules as it also is associated
with the atomic substance out of which the dense body of manifestation
has to be constructed if the nurtured Christ life is to be brought
to successful manifestation. The Moon also indicates the cause of
manifestation, as the stimulation of the "dead lives" of
inorganic substance into activity and into usefulness to the positive
Christ life, which is the agent of stimulation. Hence the Moon is
the symbol of the response of the dead lives to the outer spiritual
impact. Vulcan here gives the power to endure the long period of gestation
and the pain and struggle of the birth process, and gives weight and
gravity to the Christ-child, while shaping and perfecting the form
and vehicles of service and of expression. In a sense the Moon, Mercury
and Vulcan all relate to the first solar system of Intelligence and
form, but as the Moon also veils Neptune, the essence is safe-guarded
and the promise of redemption for the lower lives is guaranteed through
Neptune as it symbolizes the fostering and attending Solar Angel,
relating to the Heart of the Sun is pervading and percolating the
lower spheres.

Septile --- Libra / Aries; Venus, Uranus
Harmonious union, balance and equilibrium.
Where incongruency, asymmetry or dissonance may be found, but where
the harmony is sought. Where a beautiful relation or heavenly law
is emerging. The perfect formula. Where there is a perfect balance
of the energies. Where complete unification and merging is achieved.
Rituals and ceremonials of groups. The etiquette and morals one might
adhere to. The type of people you attract and appreciate, based on
your social values. Where there is an urge to merge. The types of
people that you become associated with in cooperative relationships.
The nature, areas and motivations of ones partnerships. The key decisions
in ones life. Where there may be a strange attraction or obsession
with the design, shape, outline or appearance. How the urge for peace
is sought and expressed. Human rights. Where the right relations must
be sought, and how they express. By what principal Law are you living
your life, Economy, Attraction, Synthesis or other? Where one must
balance the scales. A place of judgment. Where you may find open enemies.
The nature of ones opponent. Ones pleasures. Public relations. The
nature of ones marriage partner. Cooperative efforts on behalf of
the Hierarchy. Partnerships with spiritual beings. Where one must
contemplate ones future direction and next step to be taken.
8)
Octile --- Scorpio / Taurus; Pluto, Mars
Struggle, death, detachment and transformation. The circumstances
and cause of death. Where one must find the power to regenerate. Sexual
preferences. How you can access other people's resources. Areas where
joint ventures are likely and natural. What you must overcome, either
in yourself or in your environment. Where you may become very retentive,
and withhold energies. Areas, environments, events or circumstances
that retain and hold you back. The spheres or blockages you have to
penetrate and victor. Where you must make profound investigation.
The resources and faculties that will help you, or needs to be employed,
in profound and penetrating or occult investigations. Where treachery
can occur, and what it will involve. Where you may repress and become
revengeful. Where jealousy may occur. Sometimes, this is because of
the wounds of having been hurt or deceived. Where therefore detachment
and sacrifice may become needed for the planetary energies to work
out. Where one must wage war against separative desires. Where one
must confront the shadow-self. How we change, grow and let go. Rebirth;
where the old must die in order for the new and better suited to be
born. Psycho-spiritual deaths as necessities for transformation. Where
we may gain wealth from sharing spiritual resources. The support one
receives from other people. The battles you have to fight.
9)
Novile --- Sagittarius / Gemini; Jupiter, Earth
Areas where rapid one-pointed progress may be possible. Where you
are ready to push through; forcing accomplishments. What you will
face as you strive towards higher learning and global vision. What
you will have to do to achieve the clearest, highest vision or perspective
possible to you. What you will face as you are becoming tactless,
reckless and blindly optimistic and showing a lack of restraint. What
your reckless behavior can cause, and where recklessness is liable
to occur. Juridical entanglement. Righteous action. These are scenarios
facing you on and off the path. Obstacles that will help to re-direct
you onto the proper path of that which is most essential in order
for you to reach your true goals. First things first. What goals and
requirements you will have to reach, before you can move on towards
the next. Where wisdom will be gained. Where prophecies and visions
will play a part, and what those prophecies and visions will concern.
Publishing, Travel, Culture, Philosophy, Religion, Higher learning,
Sports, Body-consciousness, Long journeys.
10)
Decile or Semi-quintile --- Capricorn / Cancer; Saturn, Eso Saturn
This is a transfigured, infused and sealed aspect that has been fully
confirmed or sealed, and through which you may responsibly work. Your
highest responsibilities may include these areas. An old and trusted
relation. It can be ambitiously focussed on attainment, achievement
and career. The aspect may also influence the career according to
the energies involved. The two planets may be important elements in
ones attainments, and the spheres or themes associated with them may
very well involve ones vocation. Their tendency is to function as
inhibiting or structuring circumstances, steering you in a certain
direction. Steps on the ladder. Things you have to go through to reach
the possible peak of achievement. Something you have to conquer. What
glory you have to turn your back to, and bring back to humanity. They
are often of a disciplining nature, conforming you to the higher law
or will. May also suppress your wildest visions, holding you to reality.
Where you have to structure and organise, and build a solid and dependable
framework. The power basis. Where clear and concise demarcations may
be needed.
11)
Undecagon --- Aquarius / Leo; Uranus, Jupiter
What you will make available to the rest of the world. What you will
employ to make something available to the rest of the world. Where
you have to work upon the achievement of free flow. Logistics. Areas
of approach for tapping into the Divine Circulatory. Where you have
to re-direct or change the flow or pattern earlier emphasised. The
nature of Friends and where you may find Friends easily. The nature
and characteristics of the groups or organisations you will belong
to, work through or be an ideal server of. It also shows what you
may have to experience and go through in order to make something specific
available for distribution. Where the cleansing waters must flow,
before distribution is possible. Where you have to detach and impersonalize
yourself. Where you may lack emotional response and magnetism, resulting
in social awkwardness. Excessive mentalism and a sense of separatism.
What you may contribute, to enhance the creativity and effective service
of your group.
12)
Semi-sextile --- Pisces / Virgo; Jupiter, Neptune, Pluto
Where conditions, inheritance and circumstances may not be conducive
of your inner talents. Where the inner and the outer seems incompatible.
Where you may be evasive and try to escape responsibility. Where you
suffer from helplessness, aimlessness, utopianism and impracticality.
Atonement and eventual liberation from the bonds of Karma. What was
left undone. Where you experience yourself as so much more than you
have the possibility or opportunity to express. Great frustrations.
The talents that need a special atmosphere to thrive. Where there
must be made sacrifice. Rest, is a change of labour. Slavery, where
you are helplessly forced to go against your nature. Even though it
may be felt as spiritually imprisoning and frustrating, it may be
necessary, and prove materially conducive of the inner spirit in the
end. Where you may experience the saving grace, or be it yourself.
Where you may be, or you are inspired, being sensitive to impression
and acting as a mediator for the greater good and true, and hence
can be relied upon to make a real difference. Where you have the power
to salvage and redeem. Where sympathy is found or sought.
13)
Quincunx --- Orion / Ophiuchus / Virgo / Scorpio
In addition to the aspects based upon the above mentioned sequence
of numbers we must add another aspect of significance. The basis of
this aspect is related to the fact that between the constellations
of Taurus and Gemini we find the Milky Way and the constellation of
Orion. Orion with its opposite constellation Ophiuchus--the Serpent
Bearer, are actually part of the ecliptic plane or very close to it.
Hence this Quincunx aspect (150 degrees) which is based upon the number
2.4 should actually come between the opposition (180 degrees) and
the trine (120 degrees). The constellation of Orion is looked upon
as the greatest of the Gods in many cultures, for example Orion is
Osiris in ancient Egypt. The intense brightness of this constellation
brings light and clarity to the relationship of the planets invovled
in the quincunx. The light reveals and brings into focus and help
clarify the concepts involved. It helps us become aware of how it
all fits and brings us an understanding which may be difficult to
express or apply immediately. It is seeing the pieces of the puzzle
and knowing how they relate. We seek to cognize and develop the details
and the mechanics of motion or relation. It may indicate where we
need to attune and look closer to master the dynamics involved; where
careful analysis is needed to solve a problem which will result in
the taking of great strides forward. It leads to the removal of a
major or minor stumblingblock in the way of our Path, It is the taking
of this specific step ahead that will lead to great expansion, as
a long journey always beginning with a first step. It can also indicate
two things on a chart that will not mix, or relate to each other.
On a horary chart it is two people or concepts that will not combine,
compromise, or even agree to meet; they will be like oil and water.
Now, returning to the stellar dimension to find out more about this
quincunx aspect, we find that focussed in the great raja star Betelgeuse
is the configuration of Sirius - Procyon - Aldebaran. These stars
from a triangle or a Yod which is synthesised in the giant star Betelgeuse.
This is also the reason why that Path of the Higher Evolution which
is the Path of Planetary Logoi is related to Betelguese--because the
sun is the eye of Jupiter (these matters need a separate paper to
explain, so I am just mentioning them here for the intuitive investigator).
Anyway, what is so special about Betelgeuse is that it is found at
the base of one of the arms of Orion. That arm which is the only way
in which Orion touches the Ecliptic plane where move the Sun, Moon
and Planets. It is in other words here that we have an explanation
for why the configuration of the double Quincunx is called the Finger
of God. It is through this that we get in touch with the Life aspect
of Deity, as He touches and withdraws. It can be said that we live
in interesting times, as it is during these particular years in the
precessional cycle of 25.000 or 26.000 years that Orion touches the
Sun while the Sun is at its highest declination (while at 0 degrees
Cancer in the Tropical Zodiac). It is because of the fact that Orion
for the most part is out of touch with the ecliptic that we can experience
the quincunx as "I have no real roots", or "Nothing
truly tangible to call my own", or "there is nowhere I *really*
belong." A quincunx may have the effect of making you feel like
an outsider, with no place to really "belong," with all the stresses
and strains that implies. You may feel like an odd bird and you are
not 'mainstream' concerning the matters indicated by the planets involved
in the quincunx. Just think of the geometry of the aspect - it's totally
out of alignment and therefore needs to be re-aligned or readjusted
to where it should be. It's something "around the corner" that does
not fit - the proverbial round peg into a square hole. Nothing really
fits the two signs involved. They do not have the same element, nor
quality, nor gender, they can't even see each other, much less understand
each other. They seem somewhat blind to each other, with an inability
to recognise where they are the same or have something in common.
This may be because we do not perceive the whole or underlying truth
at first. This is also due to the fact that Orion in mythology was
blinded and banished for his deeds in violating Merope, the daughter
of Oenopion. It may be a struggle to find a way to interface with
the rest, but once the 'translation' is made, vast will be the knowledge
and benefits bestowed. The ordinary will be explained and the extra-ordinary
will be applied. Moving us from theory to practice to completion and
wholeness. As was the case with Orion whose sight and vision was restored
after having turned his gaze toward the dawning Sun in the east.
Let me
also try to explain the quincunx in the words of the disciple; In
a certain way, it deals with the preparation of the lower nature.
It is the purification of the vehicles. It is in the nature of a big
cleanout of anything and everything that may hinder the manifestation
of the higher self. Therefore it is an adjustment of the form nature
and therefore also health is an issue because it reveals imbalances.
These imbalances are often evidenced in the concrete physical vehicle,
but mostly these are only symptoms of inner conditions of imbalance
or uncleanliness. He then comes to an understanding of his problem
and recognizes the nature of the potencies with which he is dealing
and lays the ground for action. This preparatory stage is one of reflection,
of mental preparation and one of the raising of the consciousness
to as high a level as possible. He must sustain consciousness of two
different spheres of activity. These two recognitions are like the
two paralleling streams of consciousness, expressed in continuity.
From this attained dual consciousness he now focuses his intention
by a definite planned act of the will and then becomes a positive
agent; he next projects his forces outward and upward. Upon the depth
and the penetrative quality of the disciples concentration will depend
the nature and the persistence of the invocative rite.
The quincunx
is instrumental in bringing about a realisation that he is soul and
not form. This realisation involves divine reflection, which eventually
leads to the soul rejecting the form, and the man himself then being
rejected by the world in which he lives (as represented by the quincunx).
This is actually the meaning behind the story of Gaia sending a scorpion
of great size to the boasting Orion, who was threatening to slay every
beast that lived on the earth, the scorpion then stinging the giant
hunter and killing him leading to Orion being put in the stars. Esoterically
then the quincunx becomes instrumental in bringing about the discovery
of the group to which he belongs, blocking his way of approach until
he discovers the way of approach by service. Then identifying himself
with the group upon his own ray and so earning the right to make his
approach, because he has learnt the lesson that he travels not alone.
However, in addition, the basis of this aspect is also related to
the fact that Orion has been thought of as a great fire god. The geometrical
shape related to fire is the triangle, and it is so that the stars
of Orion have been depicted as forming the pattern of two tringles
or two triplicities. This makes Orion connected to the only two tripple
signs in the zodiac. These signs are Virgo and Scorpio, both having
triple glyphs. The triple power of these signs indicate that they
have power to bring forth unity out of that which is opposed. This
is very much needed to make possible the harmonizing and equilibrizing
work of the intermediate sign Libra. It is through the achievement
of the 'third' by Virgo and Scorpio, that the work of Libra can become
effective. Hence this can be a slightly disturbing aspect as it upsets
an earlier and less inclusive equilibrium, by introducing a third
element or aspect to the equation. The peace is broken and you have
to struggle to become aware, to know, understand and to incorporate
the new component. This is therefore a process of integration, where
we experience changes and re-adjustments to new circumstances. This
a process of transition, from an established, yet incomplete past,
towards a more inclusive yet unknown new pattern and energy, when
we are somewhat at sea and not in our element; we do not feel comfortably
at home. It feels like we have not chosen that which is being introduced,
and that we cannot avoid what is being presented. We simply have to
accept and transmute the difficulties and complications. The emerging
complexity expands our knowledge, at length protecting us from ignorance.
The involvement
of what we here call the 'third' also finds an analogy in what is
known as the 'third' angle in a horoscope. The first angle is the
Horizon with the Ascendant and the Descendant at its two ends. The
second angle is the Meridian with the Midheaven (MC) and the Lowest
heaven (IC) at its two ends. The third angle is known as the Prime
Vertical with the Vertex and the Anti-vertex at its two ends. This
third angle is focussed at the Vertex (western side of chart), just
as the other two angles are focussed at the Ascendant (eastern) and
the Midheaven (southern direction in northern hemisphere). This means
that the third angle or Vertex is usually placed in the 6th, 7th or
8th houses of the horoscope. This is very interesting, since we have
just been discussing Virgo, Libra and Scorpio--the 6th, 7th and 8th
signs respectively. We have therefore established an analogy between
the triple signs and the 'third' angle. This third angle has a lot
to do with matters beyond our control; things that are fated.
Another interesting point, linking this aspect to the two triple signs
Virgo and Scorpio, is the fact that the Quincunx aspect is based upon
the two digits; two and four (360 / 2.4 = 150 degrees). Esoterically,
the two Creative Hierarchies governed by these numbers are known as
the Divine Builders governed by Virgo (2nd Creative Hierarchy) and
the Human Hierarchy governed by Scorpio (4th Creative Hierarchy).
These are also the very rays of Humanity--the 2nd ray of Love-Wisdom
and the 4th ray of Harmony through Conflict. But the digits two and
four also make up the number of Shamballa, because 24 is the number
of Shamballa once you add up the letters (1+8+1+4+2+1+3+3+1=24).
Shamballa
is the third center (although the first center from another perspective).
Hence it finds an analogy with the tripple signs and the third angle.
Humanity is the first center; Hierarchy is the second center and Shamballa
is the third center, completing this particular triangle. Shamballa
is the Head center of our planet and in this center the Will of God
is known. The unavoidable directed purpose impulsed from Shamballa
finds an analogy with the Vertical influence of the third angle--the
Prime Vertical. It also finds an analogy with the double Quincunx--a
configuration known as the Finger of God, or Yod. As the geometry
of the three aspects is balanced and perfected there is then release
of the higher potential into the perfected receptacle or vehicle.
Thus, once effective, this configuration has the power to transmit
the Life aspect of God. This aspect is known as the first aspect and
represents the Will and Power of God or the Spirit. It is the power
that touches and withdraws. After having complicated matters at first
it will then serve to simplify and bring unity and synthesis. What
is here written very much relates to what was brought out in relation
to Orion in the earlier paragraph.
It is
interesting that Orion as a representative of the Son or 2nd aspect
finds an analogy in the epoch of Neptune, also known as the Animation
chart. Furthermore it is of great interest to consider how three prenatal
epochs create a yod pattern with Neptune at one focus. These three
epochs are governed by the three major planets related to the will
aspect--namely; Vulcan, Pluto and Morya. In the circle of prenatal
epochs, the Vulcan epoch opposes the Neptune epoch, which then finds
itself between the Pluto epoch on one side, and the Morya epoch on
the other side, all together creating a great Yod aspect. We can therefore
understand the power inherent in the yod aspect because of all the
three planets of the will aspect archetypally configured in such a
manner. The understanding of this configuration will also shed light
upon that enigmatic statement by the Tibetan regarding the 7th Systemic
Law; the Law of Sacrifice and Death, that "In a mysterious way
this law is the reverse side of the first, or the Law of Vibration.
It is Vulcan and Neptune in opposition, which is as yet an almost
incomprehensible thing to us. The densest form of expression on the
physical plane is after all but a form of synthesis [NN: achieved
through Vulcan]; just as the rarest form of expression on the highest
plane is but unity or synthesis of a finer kind [NN: achieved through
Neptune]. One is the synthesis of matter [NN: achieved through Vulcan],
and the other the synthesis of life [NN: achieved through Neptune]."
In this regard it is well to remember that the Life thread anchors
in the heart, the symbol of Love. Hence we see again the close interaction
between will and love.
It should also be mentioned that the 150 degrees of the Quincunx is
the archetypal geometrical angle between the Conception Sun and the
Animation Sun. The Quincunx symbolises the archetypal relation existing
between quickening or rather animation and birth. On average five
months of gestation separate these events during which period the
Sun has moved 150 degrees. Hence the aspect between the animation
Sun and the birth Sun is archetypally a Quincunx of 150 degrees. The
three synthesising planets preside over the three great events; conception
(Uranus), animation (Neptune) and birth (Saturn). Therefore the Quincunx
embodies the apparently irresoluble contrast existing between Neptune
and Saturn. In the world at large and in our own lives we struggle
with matters such as: Subjective vs Objective; Intuition vs concrete;
mind; Feeling vs thinking; Love vs Intelligence; Law of Attraction
vs Law of Economy; Soul vs Persona (demands integrated persona before
infusion takes place); Christ vs Ceasar; Religion vs Science.
In a
general way the quincunx relation between animation and birth can
be interpreted as that which is found in the Mind of God is being
animated and brought to Life. It is in this way that we have the ability
and power to be present and make a difference rather than avoid and
develop the karma of neglect or ignorance. Thus we can anchor our
higher aspects powerfully in matter. It can indicate where we haven't
been succesful in the magical work of magnetization of certain thoughts
or ideas, but are now unavoidably lead to those matters. It can indicate
what the soul desires, but where we haven't responded by being attracted
as human beings and applied ourselves. Where we need to make an appearance
in full as it were. Materialising the ideal as the Word made flesh.
When
trying to distinguish between the two different types of quincunxes,
I suggest the following: the waxing (dexter) quincunx works from below
upwards, whereas the waning (sinister) quincunx works from above downwards.
The waxing (dexter) quincunx is in the nature of a great approach.
It is a time of ranging and gathering resources. It is a time of crises,
where pressure builds and the point of tension is raised--it is a
time of make or break, do or die. This stage determines whether something
will come to fruition or be aborted or delayed. Once this stage is
successfully overcome, the relation indicated cannot be aborted or
delayed, but will come alive and pursue its destined cycle. It shows
the labors (unbearable tension) before the christ-child is born (Virgo).
What is required is the drawing upon many different strands and the
ability to hold the point of tension till release into life is possible
and desired. The power to accumulate is needed in order to find the
needed strength or power to penetrate beyond the ring-pass-not. Your
lower resources must be exhausted before in order to puncture the
boundary and allow the inflow of a tidal wave when it all comes to
life and is animated. It is the calm before the storm. Dexter aspects
are moving away and hence are red shifted and more under Mars and
Pluto. Sinister aspects are approaching and hence violet shifted and
more under Jupiter and Morya. The waning (sinister) aspect evidence
the magical precipitation of the Morya epoch when there is the appearance
or disappearance of certain matters. This is so to speak the beginning
of the dark cycle where dissemination is possible and integrity, purity
and right motive is of importance for ones creations. Making sure
that the love and vision of the soul is present is very important,
and an understanding that energy follows thought. It thereby also
represent matters that we have to accept and transmute as they are
present in our lives because of past conditions. Nevertheless the
cross can be transcended and life liberated if we are present in the
indicated circumstances.

Examples
of Energy enhancements by Aspect:
1) If
for example Sagittarius (9th sign) is rising, the relative importance
of the noviles (aspect based upon number 9) in the chart will be greater,
and they will significantly influence and be instrumental in the Soul's
task in this incarnation. If one with Sagittarius rising, for example,
find a Novile between the two fifth ray planets --- Venus and Sigma/Maat
--- then much of the Soul's task and purpose will concern the 5th
ray domains. If in the same chart we find Libra on the MC, the relative
importance of the Septiles in the chart will be greater, and they
will significantly influence and be instrumental in the direction
of the profession or career in this incarnation. This is all based
upon the principle of resonance. Therefore it can be said that there
are certain aspects governing the affairs of the different arms or
houses in the chart.
2) Correspondingly,
if for example, there are only a few or no semi-squares in the chart,
there may be a problem to access other people's resources, or to handle
endings, deaths or transformations. There may of course be contra-indications
in the chart, such as a powerful and influential Pluto, or several
well-placed planets in Scorpio or 8th house, but still the principle
is clear that the aspect resonating with a particular Sign/House/Planet,
will serve to make the themes more accessible or not to the individual,
depending upon its number of occurrences for one thing.
3) Aspects
that has rayo-numero-logical correspondences, such as Uranus (ray
7) in a Septile (360/7=51d26m) usually are of greater import and influence
and will strengthen the ray 7 influence. If the Septile was between
two ray 7 planets, such as Uranus and Morya or Rex, it will be even
more enhanced. For example, the beauty and musicality inherent in
a Septile from Moon to Mercury is unsurpassed.
4) Aspects
that has sign-numero-logical correspondences, such as Uranus (esoteric
ruler of 7th sign Libra) in a Septile (360/7=51d26m) usually are of
greater import and influence and will strengthen the ray 7 influence.
If the Septile was between two ray 7 planets, such as Uranus and Morya
or Rex, it will be even more enhanced. If there was a Septile between
the rulers of Libra --- Venus and Uranus --- the influence and potential
of Libra in the chart would be tremendously strengthened. The following
